Our District Governor
AT FORTY-FIVE (45) YEARS OF AGE, Atty. Marlowe C. Selecios, J.D., is on track to be among the youngest to serve as Governor of District 3870.
He graduated from UP Diliman in 2000 (cum laude, AB Philosophy) where he was elected Councilor of the University Student Council and President of the regional group UP Kaamulan.
He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Xavier University College of Law where he served as President of the Association of Law Students and Chairman of the Law Debate Club. In 2001, he captained the law debate team that won the National Championship in the Supreme Court Centennial Debate Competition where he was adjudged National Best Speaker.
He has had 20 years of experience as a lawyer and founding partner of Selecios, Tautho & Quia-ot Law Offices. His expertise includes local governance, civil service law, criminal law, civil law and political law. From 2016 to present, he has served as City Legal Officer of the City Government of Valencia.
As City Legal Officer, he is part of the Mayor’s core management team which instituted critical reforms in Valencia City resulting to low crime rate, sustained economic growth, fiscal efficiency, expansive social services, personnel accountability and infrastructure development. The City Government became a recipient of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for a record seven (7) times and was elevated in 2024 to a First Class Component City status.
In order to preserve for posterity Valencia City’s success story and best practices, he wrote and edited the coffee-table book “Seeds of a Golden Harvest” which has produced 5 volumes to date.
A Rotarian since 2006, he served as President of the Rotary Club of Metro Valencia (RCMV) in 2009-2010 where he received the Club Leadership Award and RI Presidential Citation Award. As long-time Club Foundation Chair, he steered the Club to give more to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) which led to 90% of its Club Membership becoming Paul Harris Fellows (PHF).
He has previously served the District as Assistant Governor, New Generations Chairman, RYLA Chairman, District Rotaract Chairman, District Parliamentarian, District Resolutions Chair, Membership Attraction Chair and District Training Team Member.
In 2017, he served as Chairman of the highly successful District Conference “Saulog!” during the term of then DG Miriam Ruth “Jing” Dablio which was lauded for its excellent program content, organizational discipline, large attendance and financial success.
In 2021, he successfully completed the intensive Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) for Rotary leaders under then DG Rogelio “Bong” Buot. Twice (in 2021 and 2023) he successfully led his Club’s Global Grant Projects which brought much-needed medical and laboratory equipment for the Philippine Red Cross-Bukidnon Chapter and the Valencia City Health Office benefitting hundreds of low-income patients.
District Governor-Elect Marlowe is happily married to artist and fellow Rotarian Ellen "mai" Selecios and they are blessed with two kids, Eiam and Emia. They live in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
